Ramps were first featured in the Burnout series in Burnout 3: Takedown where crash mode sometimes involved jumping the player's car off a ramp into oncoming traffic to help score the highest amount of dollars in insurance claims. It then progressed into Burnout Revenge where the player could jump off ramps in races, making it possible to perform a vertical takedown against an opponent. In Burnout Paradise ramps were further utilized for performing Stunts. Jump Distance, Air Time, Barrel Rolling, and Flat Spins became more important, with the inclusion of Stunt Run and online, stunt-centric challenges.
