The Hunter Reliable Special is the upgraded version of the Reliable Custom. This upgrade trades one speed point for one boost and gains a less damaged paint job. The extra boost does increases its maximum speed and helps with the acceleration, but the need for Takedowns increases to maintain the boost bar. It remains mostly the same as the Reliable Custom, but due to the Reliable Special's new paint job and non-damaged appearance, it is probably more preferred over the original variant.

- In Burnout Paradise's Free February Update, the Reliable Special's speed stat was lowered from 4 to 2 and its boost was lowered from 5 to 4.
- The AI vehicles in Road Rage events are usually vehicles selected from the original 35 vehicles. However, when participating in a Road Rage with the Carson Extreme Hot Rod, the Reliable Special tends to appear instead of the Reliable Custom.
